Yes folks, this Friday (30th July) we’re hosting a night featuring two of Melbourne’s most acclaimed mixed choirs. And us - we’re not mixed, except for Ian, who’s just confused about the type of suit to wear.

Did we say wear?

At the Northcote Uniting Church Hall, 251 High Street.

Come along and see Harambee (3rd place in Channel 7’s Battle of the Choirs) and Darebin’s darlings - Shaking the Tree. And us.

The fun starts at 8pm. Ticket prices are $10, $8 and $5, and a mulled beverage and assorted delicacies will be available.

A PRE-HISTORY OF MEN IN SUITS

Before we wore modern attire, Men in Suits had a brief alternative life.

The Visigothic Appreciation Society (Melbourne Branch) gathered for clandestine meetings and to perform secret rituals.

Along the way we recorded “Glagolitica”, a sonic movie that reflected the majesty of wilderness marching, a favourite pastime in primeval times (Men in Suits still practice wilderness marching, but in urban settings).

Glagolitica found its way on to the CD “Stop Scratching It” by the Spooky Men’s Chorale.

DON’T GO TO MERRIGIG

This week we’re performing in aid of the Merri Creek Management Committee’s parkland management program.

The “Merri gig” will feature Men in Suits as the headline act (our take on being scheduled last). Other acts are the Expressive Women, the Brunswick Rogues choir combining with Errol’s Angels and Havana Palava.

The show kicks off at 7pm, with tickets $15 ($8 concession) and kids free.

THE BEST REVIEW OF OUR CD YET

Copies of our CD “Blank but Recordable” have been selling like hotcakes (we haven’t been able to find any either), and thanks to a loyal fan somewhere out there in cyberspace we’ve updated our “Hear Us” webpage with the best review yet of our CD.

Ok, it might be our only one, but we’re celebrating! When we find out where he lives, we’re going to send him a real collectable - an autographed copy.
